The jackpot for Friday's Mega Millions drawing skyrockets to $368 million

The lottery official announced that the Tuesday, September 7th, 2021, Mega Millions drawing resulted in a rollover, producing an $368 million jackpot for the next drawing Friday. The lump-sum cash payout stands at a projected $263.7 million. The winning numbers from Tuesday, September 7th, 2021 drawing were 15-17-25-32-53 and the Mega Ball was 12, Megaplier was 3. The Mega Millions jackpot has been rolling over for 823 draws since Friday, October 4th, 2013.The last jackpot was won by one lucky ticket sold in Maryland, matched all six numbers for a $189 million top prize.

While the grand prize was not hit Tuesday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. There was a sole lucky winner correctly matched all 5 white ball numbers but missed Mega Ball number, which won the 2nd prize. The 1 lucky ticket(s) purchased in , each won one quarter million dollar cash by matching all 5 white ball numbers.

In addition, 19 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers, as well as the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000. Additional prizes won Tuesday evening included 454 tickets that matched four white numbers and won $150. There were 1306 tickets that matched three white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball and also won $150.

With 9 different prize levels, there were 1,675,266 winning tickets sold across U.S. in the Tuesday, September 7th, 2021 drawing.

Mega Millions is a consortium of 44 state lotteries. Approximately 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back for the players through prize winnings. About 15% goes to retailer commissions and lottery operating costs. Around 35% total sales is used in government services, education and charities in the member lottery states. Mega Millions drawings occur every Tuesday and Friday night at 7:59 PM Pacific Time. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to spend 1 extra dollar to buy the Megaplier option, which multiplies the winnings 2 to 5 times but not grand prize. The chances of winning are about 1 to 14. The chances of matching 6 Mega Millions numbers are about 1 in 258 million. The minimum Mega Millions advertised grand prize is $12,000,000. Its annuity option is paid in 26 equal yearly payments. Winners may select one time lump-sum cash payout option instead.
