Mega Millions jackpot breaks to $1,150,000,000; 4 second prize tickets sold

With no winner in the latest draw, the Mega Millions game grand prize will be worth $1,150,000,000 (lump-sum cash payout $$516.1 million) the next time the multistate lottery is played on Friday. The amount carried over because no one hit all five white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball number to win the $1,000,000,000 grand prize Tuesday night. The winning numbers from Tuesday night, December 24th, 2024 were 11, 14, 38, 45, 46 with Mega Ball 03 and Megaplier 3. The Mega Millions jackpot has been rolling over for 30 draws since Friday, September 13th, 2024.The last jackpot was won by a lucky ticket sold in TX, matched all six numbers for a $800 million top prize.

While the grand prize was not hit Tuesday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. There were 4 tickets that matched the first five numbers and won the second prize. The 4 second prize winning ticket(s) bought in CA,MO,PA,WY won $250,000 cash each.

Also, 93 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers, as well as the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000. Other prizes won Tuesday night included 2169 tickets that matched four white numbers and won $150. There were 5543 tickets that correctly matched 3 white ball numbers as well as the Mega Ball and also won $150.

With nine ways to win, there were 8,584,676 winning tickets sold across the nation in the Tuesday, December 24th, 2024 drawing.

Mega Millions is a consortium involving 44 state lotteries. Approximately 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back towards the players in prize winnings. Approximately 15% is used to as commission of retailers and lottery operating costs. Around 35% total sales is used in government services, education and charities in the participating lottery states. Mega Millions game uses a 5/75 (white balls) + 1/46 (Mega Balls) system to randomly pick winning numbers. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to pay 1 extra dollar to purchase the Megaplier option, which multiplies the prizes 2 to 5 times except grand prize. The chances of winning any prizes are about 1 to 14. The odds of matching 6 Mega Millions numbers are 1 to 258,890,850. The minimum Mega Millions advertised jackpot is $12 million. The annuity option is paid in 26 equal annual installments. Winners can select one lump sum cash payout instead.
