Wednesday's Powerball jackpot goes to $687,000,000; Six second prize tickets sold

With no winner in the latest draw, the Powerball grand prize will be worth an estimated $687,000,000 (cash option $$327.3 million) the next time the multistate lottery is played on Wednesday. The amount carried over since no player hit all six winning numbers to win the $645,000,000 jackpot Monday night. The winning numbers from Monday night, March 18th, 2024 were 10-17-20-39-44 and Powerball number was 16. The Powerball grand prize has been rolling over for 33 draws since Wednesday, January 3rd, 2024. A single lucky winner from Michigan walked away with 810,000,000 top prize in Monday, January 1st, 2024 drawing.
Although there was no jackpot winner Monday evening, some people still walked away with huge pile of cash. There were six lucky tickets matched the first five white ball numbers but missed Powerball number, which won the 2nd prize. The five second prize winning ticket(s) bought in Maryland(1), Minnesota(1), Texas(2) and Virginia(1) won $1,000,000 cash. The other one second prize winner(s) from Florida also bought Power Play, which doubled the prize to 2 million dollar cash win!
Other prizes won Monday night included 17 tickets that matched 4 white numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000. 1 additional tickets of this prize level were also wisely bought with the Power Play option that multiplied the prize 4 times to $40,000 cash!
With 9 ways to win, the Monday night's drawing produced 872,774 winning tickets across U.S. with a total amount of $0 prizes.
Powerball game is played in 42 states, D.C. and the US Virgin Islands. Powerball drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time. To play, pick 5 numbers from 1 to 59 then select one Powerball number from a set of 35. Each play costs $2. Players can choose to pay 1 extra dollar to purchase the Power Play option, which multiplies the winnings except grand prize. The overall odds of winning are about 1 to 32. The odds of matching 6 Powerball numbers are 1 to 175,223,510. The minimum Powerball advertised grand prize starts at $40,000,000. Its annuity option is paid in 30 graduated installments in 29 years. Winners can choose one-time lump sum cash payout option instead.
